If you're like me then you don't really like to use FriendFeed that much, but if you are like a fair amount of other geeks out there then you love it and have certainly tried out the new beta.

Many people have complained that it's "too fast" and "too busy". Even FriendFeed's #1 fan, Louis Gray, has suggested 10 things FriendFeed could do to improve the service. It is in the spirit of suggestion #3 that this post comes to you.

He says:

There Should be a Simple or "Light" Option The new real-time focus of FriendFeed beta means that updates are coming and going constantly. There should be a version (or a toggle) that hides all comments or likes, letting users get the new content quickly without being forced into discussions

He's right. It's because of this fact that I decided to take a few seconds to put together a simple Greasemonkey script (sorry, FireFox users only) that automatically hides the "likes" and "comments" on each item as you browse the FriendFeed beta. When I tested the script out for the first time I realized just how much easier it was to scan the page.

Without further ado, I give you the FriendFeed Light Greasemonkey Script. Enjoy.

P.S. The reason this is a Greasemonkey and not a bookmarklet is because I seriously doubt anyone would be interested in having to click the bookmarklet each and every time they load a new page. Greasemonkey makes it easy to let the functionality happen automatically without the need to keep interacting with it over and over.
